Japan Fires Missiles Overseas for First Time Since World War Two in Philippine Drills
Japan fired anti-ship missiles on Philippine soil during the Balikatan 2026 exercises — its first overseas live-fire combat exercise since the Second World War — as the United States made the first operational firing of a Tomahawk from its controversial Typhon launcher system deployed in the Philippines. China condemned both actions and held counter-drills east of Luzon as an explicit response.
